Installation Menu

This addon is also known as "World Item Respawn Addon" or "Respawn Addon" or "Loot Addon", it manually stops many world items from respawning both for Vanilla FO4 and all the DLC's. All items that are generally seen as useful or valuable are covered, to counteract metagaming more strongly. Many junky items still continue to respawn, such as empty bottles, cans, etc., to cut down on the number of edits, as well as provide some immersion from NPCs adding new trash. A few "randomly generated" placed items may still respawn such as purified water, chems, etc. Many fusion cores are damaged fusion cores (junk items). Most cells that don't reset, like workshops, aren't included.1.5.0:107

Cell Respawn Time[]

The default respawn time for cells is reduced in survival mode to match Vanilla FO4.1.5.0:108 The 35 in-game days for non-cleared locations and 80 in-game days for cleared locations have been changed as follows;

  • Cleared cells respawn every 20 days
  • Uncleared cells respawn every 7 days

This timer can be changed in the Horizon Holotape to: Default, 10, 20, 40, Never. The game must be reloaded for the changes to take effect. It is advisable to change the timer in an interior cell (dungeon, vault, cave, etc.) and then reload the game.

Dynamic Loot Quantities[]

A few types of items that can be given with random quantities:1.7.0:48

  • Gasoline Can: Empty, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% (Liquid Fuel given is 1-5 based on percentages).
  • Cigar Box: Can contain random amounts of cigars, with a low chance for a lighter or other items. Cigar Boxes always give an empty Cigar Box.
  • Cigarette Carton: Contains random amounts of cigarette packs (1-10), with a low chance for a lighter

More items may be added in the future, provided these changes above work out well.

Loot[]

Cars[]

The addon has no effect on vehicles in any form. Intact Cars may respawn[1][2][3]. Please contact Zaw directly with any information about when and how.[4]

Containers[]

Many types of containers will no longer respawn. Types that usually respawn: rusted ammo boxes, rusted chem/aid boxes, crates, trunks, toolboxes

Fusion Cores[]

Fusion cores in generators can have charged or empty cores. Malfunctioning fusion cores are junk items instead of "damaged ammo" and come in various forms, with different amounts of materials in them (similar to fuel canisters). Malfunctionig fusion cores give various amounts of Energy Cells and some give a Fusion Casing.1.8.0.BETA-1:234

Power Armor Frames[]

PowerArmorLoot1

Possible power armor loot

The addon has no effect on Power Armor Frames. Random pieces of power armor (usually rusted) can sometimes be found on power armor frames and in certain containers (trunks, crates, and even large trash bins).1.5.0:110

Power armor frames may contain new power armor parts over time[citation needed] (very rarely), independent of the respawn addon. There are a number of players[5][6][7][8] (Vanilla FO4 and Horizon) who report that this is possible. So far, however, it is unknown why, when and how this occurs. Any information that is helpful please contact Zaw directly[4].

Wild Plants[]

The loot addon places 6 additional Wild Razorgrain plants around the commonwealth.1.6.0:145

Vendors[]

Vendor respawn is tied to the Timescale addon.

Teddy Bear[]

The loot addon replaces many generic teddy bears in the world with new junk items such as;1.8.0.BETA-1:210

Developer Notes[]

  • This addon does not require Horizon, so you can load these .esp files higher up in your load order, if other mods edit cells too

Technical Issues[]

🌀 The content below transcludes to Technical Issues.
  • It's unknown if changing the cell respawn timer will work until the cell has respawned. A cell respawn may only be safely triggered if the player triggers the changes in an "interior cell", reloads the game and then enters an exterior cell[9].
  • Some cells may work different than others even if global parameters have been changed. Entering a cell can cause its timer to start over[10].
  • Respawning cells what is technically supposed to happen after day X also seems to depend on the distance travelled. I.e. time seems relative when the player covers very large distances per day or over days.
  • Fusion generators aren't supposed to "turn off" when extracting empty cores or malfunctioning cores.
  • Corpses are defined as "Containers" too, that means; special NPCs that remain lying around also renew their inventory. E.g. if the player kills Wolfgang and Simone both replenish their inventory after X days.
  • A cell respawn may place turrets, e.g. those of the gunner outposts, in a different place[11], far next to their original position. This might not be related to the respawn addon itself and may based on vanilla Fo4 behavior. Needs testing!
